Lake Country United Soccer Announces Rob Lestina as Director of Coaching for U5-U12 Age Groups

LCU Families,

Lake Country United is excited to announce the hiring of Rob Lestina as our Director of Coaching for the U5-U12 age groups.  Rob will be joining us from Eclipse Soccer Club in Houston, Texas where he has spent the past year as the Director of Operations. Rob previously spent approximately 14 years with FC Milwaukee in various coaching assignments.  Rob has also worked at Whitefish Bay Soccer Club and with the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).

Rob's coaching accomplishments include the following:

USSF "A" License

14 Wisconsin State Championships

3 Midwest Region semi-final appearances

Midwest Regional League Experience

Elite Clubs National League Experience

Wisconsin Olympic Development Program Coach 2003 - 2009

Rob's focus at Lake Country United will be the launch of our new recreational Academy Team program at U8-U10, development of a detailed curriculum in the U5-U12 ages, the management of our U11-U12 select age groups and key coaching assignments both within those age groups and with some of our high profile older teams.

Rob's passion for soccer and the coaching and management of coaches will be immediately evident when he joins us on the LCU fields.  He also has a passion for technology and will help us in a re-vamp of the LCU web site in the near future.  Rob is originally from Dousman so he is excited to return to the Lake Country area and pursue soccer excellence here at LCU.

LCU Accepted Into Wisconsin Developmental Academy

Lake Country United will join the Wisconsin Developmental Academy (WDA) for U11 - U18 boys and girls beginning with the 2012-2013 program year.

Purpose of the WDA

The WDA was formed to enhance player, team, coach and club development. The game, the players and the coaches will be the central focus of the league. This game centric approach allows for long-term player development to occur.

Principles of the WDA

The WDA program provides the optimum developmental environment for the top soccer players, coaches and clubs in the state by emphasizing development through quality training and meaningful competition. For this reason, clubs that have the appropriate structure, coaching and administrative personnel, player and team pools were invited to participate in the program.

Features of the Academy

There are a number of unique features adopted by the Academy to promote the ideals of player, coach, and club development. A number of important features include:

  • no promotion or relegation of teams
  • player identification
  • Wisconsin College Showcase Tournament
  • standards for best operational practices
  • game day competition orchestrated such that all Academy U11-U18 teams at one club will compete against all Academy teams in another club
  • roster flexibility
  • transitioning into the larger game
  • coaching education

More details regarding the WDA can be found by clicking here. If you have any immediate questions, you can direct them to Mike Stoy (mikestoy@lcusoccer.org).
